Houthis held talks in Riyadh

JEDDAH: A delegation from Yemen’s Houthis was in Riyadh for talks with officials earlier in March.

Confirming this, Abdullah Al-Moalami, Saudi ambassador to the United Nations, told Al Jazeera English channel that the talks resulted in a reduction of tensions on the Saudi-Yemeni border, as well as a soldier-prisoner exchange.

“We will continue to extend our hands and open our hearts to the possibility of dialogue with any party,” he said, noting that the developments come after the successes of the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, in destroying the capabilities of the Yemeni rebels, restoring the southern provinces, lifting the siege of Taiz, and supporting a strong campaign of Yemeni resistance forces.

Meanwhile, diplomatic sources in Riyadh ruled out the possibility of any Saudi formal response to Kuwaiti efforts undertaken at the request of Iran to dampen relations with Saudi Arabia and turn a new page with Gulf countries.
