An elderly man was killed and five others were injured in a clash over a land-related dispute at Kachua village in Nasirnagar upazila on Tuesday afternoon.The deceased was identified as Shahidullah, 55, a resident of the village.
Officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar police station Abdul Quader said, two groups of people — one led by Akkas and the other by his nephew Shukkur — locked into an altercation over marking the boundary of a land in the afternoon, triggering a clash.
Shahidullah moved to the spot in a bid to normalise the situation but at one stage, someone from the clashers hit him with a brickbat, leaving him dead on the spot around 3:30pm.
On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control.
