BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has started for Brahmanbaria to address a rally there this afternoon in a bid to drum up public support in favour of her party's demand for holding a fresh election under a non-party administration.
The BNP chief left her Gulshan residence in Dhaka around noon, party sources said adding that she is being accompanied by BNP Vice-chairman Selima Rahman.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Dhaka city BNP Convener Mirza Abbas and Member Secretary Habib-un-Nabi Khan, among others, have joined them also.
The former premier will address the rally at Niaz Mohammad High School ground in the district headquarters around 3:00pm.
This will be Khaleda’s third visit outside the capital after the January 5 election boycotted by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Earlier on May 28 and June 22, the BNP chief has visited Munshiganj and Joypurhat and attended rallies there.
Khaleda is scheduled to visit in Jamalpur on September 27 to raise public support in favour of her party’s anti-government movement.
