SR100,000 fine for each overstaying pilgrim

JEDDAH: The Directorate General of Immigration has said that the guidelines do not allow any pilgrims coming from abroad to overstay the validity of their visas. They are also not allowed to work in any part of the Kingdom or move beyond the circuit of Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah, according to an online newspaper.

The directorate has warned companies and institutions working in pilgrim services against holding back any information about delays of any pilgrims in departing. If they do so, they will be fined SR 100,000. The fine would be multiplied with the number of violations.

It said that Saudis and residents should cooperate with security agencies.

It also warned all transport means against ferrying any of the pilgrims who have come to perform Haj beyond the circuit of Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah.

The directorate general has also warned accommodation facilities against lodging those who overstay, hiding or helping them in any manner.

The warning was issued with the Haj season coming to an end with some pilgrims might not be knowing the law and overstaying.

There has also been apprehension that some of them might stay back for other reasons which is also against the guidelines.
